CREX (a "Character form for Representation and EXchange of data")
is an alphanumeric TDCF (Table-Driven
Code Form) defined by the World Meteorological Organization
(WMO) to represent meteorological data.
CREX became operational in May 2000.
CREX is self-descriptive, and its main advantages are its flexibility and its expandability.
In addition, CREX messages are human-readable. CREX complements BUFR in areas where binary coding is
not feasible.
CREX editions - CREX edition 2 is operational from 2 Nov 2005.
CREX editions 1 and 2 are operational in parallel up to 2012.
